Day 1: Arrival in Greece
One short stop in Chicago and one overnight flight later, we are in Athens. Running on zero sleep and a lot of caffeine, which was all okay because we are so excited to be here!
We cram ourselves and our huge suitcases into two cars and off we go to the beautiful city of Athens. After dropping off our bags at the hotel, we began exploring the Plaka, which is Athens’ most historic neighborhood. Cobblestone streets, small shops, and cats everywhere! The area was easy to wander through without a real plan, with plenty to see and enjoy as you took in the city's movement.
Dinner was at Cherchez La Femme: our first real Greek meal in Greece. The food was excellent, and we tried authentic and fresh dishes like Moussaka and Dolmas. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we lost track of time while eating and chatting about our plans ahead. Afterward, we walked to the Syntagma Square and the Parliament Building. It was a great first afternoon and evening in Greece.
The next day, the actual work began. We defeated the jet lag!
